Château Bellefont-Belcier, Saint Émilion 2022

Château Bellefont-Belcier is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé known for producing elegant, richly textured wines from the limestone and clay soils of the appellation. The 2022 vintage combines the estate’s classic Right Bank character with the concentration and ripe fruit profile of a warm, highly successful Bordeaux year.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby to purple in appearance, the wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum, followed by floral nuances, subtle spice and hints of cedar. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, with succulent dark fruit, well-integrated tannins and a fresh mineral undertone that brings balance to the richness. The finish is long and layered, with notes of cocoa, liquorice and gently toasted oak. Although approachable with decanting, the 2022 Château Bellefont-Belcier has the structure and concentration to develop further in bottle over the next 8–12 years, and potentially longer under good cellar conditions.

Production
The estate is situated on the slopes of Saint-Émilion, where clay and limestone soils provide both depth and structure while helping to preserve freshness. The grapes are typically harvested by hand in separate parcels according to ripeness, then carefully sorted before fermentation. Vinification is carried out parcel by parcel, followed by maturation in oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop greater complexity while retaining the character of the fruit and terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C, ideally after decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromas and texture to open. Its ripe fruit and polished tannins pair beautifully with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, duck, game birds and hearty mushroom dishes. It is also a natural match for mature hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda.
