Château Bellefont-Belcier, Saint Émilion 2018

Château Bellefont-Belcier 2018 is a refined Saint-Émilion red from one of Bordeaux’s most historic estates. The warm, generous vintage produced a concentrated yet elegant wine, combining ripe dark-fruit character with the mineral freshness and polished structure associated with the limestone and clay soils of the appellation.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with aromas of black plum, blackberry and cassis, complemented by hints of violet, cedar, spice and subtle cocoa. On the palate, it is full-bodied and supple, with rich fruit, well-integrated oak and smooth, persistent tannins. A fresh mineral line brings balance to the ripe vintage profile, while the long finish reveals notes of dark chocolate and spice. Already approachable with decanting, Château Bellefont-Belcier 2018 has the structure to develop further in bottle. It should drink well from around 2024 and continue to mature gracefully over the next decade or more when properly stored.

Production
The château’s vineyards lie on the gently undulating terrain of Saint-Émilion, where clay and limestone soils help retain freshness while encouraging depth and concentration. The grapes are typically harvested by hand in multiple passes to ensure optimal ripeness. In the cellar, carefully selected fruit is fermented parcel by parcel before maturation in oak, allowing the wine to develop texture and complexity while preserving the character of the estate’s terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to breathe. Decant for approximately one to two hours, particularly when serving the wine young. Its generous fruit and polished tannins make it an excellent partner for roast lamb, beef fillet, duck, grilled entrecôte, game birds and mature hard cheeses.
