Charles Smith Château Smith Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is a bold, Bordeaux-inspired red from Washington State, combining intense fruit character with depth and structure. Made with a respectful nod to traditional winemaking, it is equally distinctive for its expressive style and instantly recognisable, art-led label created in collaboration with artist Rikke Korff.

Tasting Notes
The wine presents an intense ruby-red colour. On the nose, it shows pronounced aromas of black fruit, suggesting ripe blackberries and dark berries, with the depth expected from a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the wine is intense and layered, with concentrated dark-fruit flavours, depth and a complex, generous mouthfeel. Extended skin maceration and time on the lees contribute added texture and weight. It can be enjoyed now, especially after decanting, while its structure should allow it to develop further over the medium term.

Production
This northwestern Cabernet Sauvignon draws inspiration from the classic wines of Bordeaux while reflecting the character of Washington State. Charles Smith’s red wines undergo a long maceration on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation without further extended ageing afterwards; the resulting additional time on the lees enhances texture and mouthfeel.
