Sourced from nearly 50-year-old vines in the limestone-rich Bien Nacido Vineyard, it offers a Burgundian sense of elegance with a distinctly coastal California personality.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a graceful, luminous ruby hue. The nose is expressive and layered, with red cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, lavender, rose petals, and a hint of dark earth rising from the glass. On the palate, it is silky and refined, unfolding with cherry, blood orange, exotic spice, and a fresh touch of mint on the finish. The wine has real energy and clarity, balancing perfume, fruit purity, and savory complexity with impressive precision. While already charming in its youth, it has the structure and balance to evolve beautifully over the next 10 years, gaining more nuance and earthy complexity with time.

Production
This Pinot Noir comes from the celebrated Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Barbara County, where the limestone-rich soils and cool coastal conditions give the variety ideal growing conditions. The vines are nearly 50 years old, contributing depth and concentration to the wine. After pressing and fermentation, Gavin Chanin aged the wine for 14 months in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop texture, spice, and subtle complexity without overpowering its delicate fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for duck breast, roast chicken, salmon, mushroom dishes, game birds, and truffle-based pasta or risotto. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 14–16°C, to preserve its fragrance and finesse. Decanting is not essential, but a short decant can help open up the wine if you’re drinking it young.
