Description
Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial is a lavish, fruit-forward Champagne crafted for those who enjoy a richer, more indulgent style of bubbles. Presented in a smart gift box, it’s an impressive choice for celebrations, gifting, or elevating a special evening at home. This cuvée stands out within the Moët range as their most exuberant and exotically styled Champagne, with a demi-sec sweetness that remains beautifully balanced by freshness.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Nectar Impérial shows a deep golden hue with vibrant, fine bubbles that form a persistent mousse. The nose is expressive and generous, offering ripe stone fruits, tropical notes of mango and pineapple, and hints of candied citrus, all wrapped in subtle honeyed and floral nuances.
On the palate, this Champagne is lush and full-bodied, with a creamy texture and a touch of sweetness (demi-sec) that’s perfectly offset by crisp acidity. Flavors of peach, apricot, and juicy pineapple intertwine with hints of brioche, vanilla, and citrus zest, leading to a long, indulgent finish. Best enjoyed within a few years of purchase for its vivid fruit and vibrant character, though it can develop a touch more complexity with short-term cellaring.
Production
Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial is produced from a carefully selected blend of the three classic Champagne grapes—primarily Pinot Noir and Meunier for structure and fruit intensity, with Chardonnay adding elegance and freshness. The grapes are sourced from a mosaic of crus across Champagne, combining limestone-rich soils, cool climate, and varied exposures to create a layered, expressive style. Harvest is carried out parcel by parcel to capture optimal ripeness. After gentle pressing and fermentation, the base wines are blended to achieve Moët’s signature house style, then undergo secondary fermentation in bottle and extended aging on the lees. A higher dosage is added at disgorgement to deliver the characteristic demi-sec richness that defines Nectar Impérial.
Food & Serving
Nectar Impérial’s generous, slightly sweet profile makes it a superb partner for spicy Asian cuisine (think Thai, Vietnamese, or mildly spiced Indian dishes), glazed pork, and richly flavored poultry. It also shines with fruit-based desserts, tarts, and creamy cheeses, or simply served as a luxurious aperitif. Serve well chilled at around 6–8°C. A brief chill in an ice bucket before serving is ideal; decanting is not necessary, but pouring into tulip-shaped Champagne glasses will best showcase its aromas and mousse.
