Description
Champagne J.M. Labruyère Page Blanche 2016 is a refined vintage Champagne from Verzenay, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. Produced from grapes grown on chalk-rich soils and made entirely by the Labruyère family, it combines precise freshness with elegant mineral character and subtle bottle-aged complexity.
Tasting Notes
Pale and bright in appearance, the wine offers a delicate, persistent mousse. The nose is focused and fresh, with aromas of citrus, green apple and understated chalky minerals. On the palate, it is taut and refined, driven by lively acidity and complemented by light autolytic notes reminiscent of fresh pastry. The finish is clean, mineral and finely persistent. Its structure and vintage character make it suitable for further bottle ageing, although it is already showing excellent balance and finesse.
Production
The grapes come from the chalk-rich soils of Verzenay, a Grand Cru commune in the Montagne de Reims, where the terroir contributes both freshness and pronounced mineral definition. The Labruyère family oversees the vinification and final assemblage themselves. The Champagne is produced according to the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle followed by maturation sur lattes, allowing the wine to develop greater complexity and a fine, delicate mousse. The precise ageing period is not publicly specified.
Food & Serving
A natural partner for oysters, shellfish and other delicate seafood, this Champagne also pairs beautifully with simply prepared fish, fresh sashimi or light canapés. Its purity and brisk acidity make it equally appealing as a sophisticated aperitif. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not normally necessary, though allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass can reveal additional aromatic detail.
Producer
Champagne J.M. Labruyère is based in Verzenay, one of the most distinguished Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. The Labruyère family is closely involved in both the vinification and assemblage of its wines, maintaining hands-on control from vineyard to bottle. The estate’s chalk-rich vineyards and emphasis on traditional Champagne production define a style built around precision, freshness and mineral elegance.
