Description
Champagne Anthologie NV from J.M. Labruyère is a refined Grand Cru Champagne from Verzenay, in the Montagne de Reims. Combining expressive red-fruit character with brioche complexity, lively freshness and a distinctly chalky finish, it offers both power and precision in a gastronomic style.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a bright, elegant appearance with a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose, red berries mingle with brioche and a subtle hint of spice, creating an inviting balance between freshness and maturity.
On the palate, it is powerful yet polished, with fresh acidity, creamy texture and delicate bubbles. The finish is long and chalky, reflecting the character of its Grand Cru terroir. It is ready to enjoy now, while careful cellaring should allow further development of its brioche and savoury complexity.
Production
The grapes come exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards around Verzenay, where chalk-rich soils contribute freshness, minerality and a persistent finish. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by extended ageing on the lees. This prolonged maturation adds depth, creaminess and greater finesse to the mousse while preserving the wine’s precise, vibrant character.
Food & Serving
A versatile Champagne for refined dining, it pairs particularly well with veal, poultry and elegant mushroom dishes. Its freshness and mineral finish also make it an excellent match for preparations built around umami, including delicately seasoned sauces and roasted or sautéed ingredients. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not generally necessary, although opening the bottle a few minutes before serving can allow its aromas to unfold.
Producer
Champagne J.M. Labruyère is based in Verzenay, one of the leading Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. The estate, led by Edouard Labruyère, works exclusively with Grand Cru vineyards planted on chalk soils, placing terroir expression at the centre of its wines. Stainless-steel fermentation and extended lees ageing are key elements of the house style, producing Champagnes marked by precision, texture and mineral depth.
