Description
Champagne Gosset Grande Réserve is a beautifully expressive cuvée from Champagne’s oldest house, presented here in the distinctive half bottle format. Made from a classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it combines freshness, depth, and complexity in a style that has long defined Gosset’s reputation for elegant, age-worthy Champagne.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a lively mousse and a refined, polished appearance. The nose is bright and aromatic, with red raspberries, citrus, and green apple lifted by a subtle mineral edge.
The palate is dry and layered, offering notes of dried fruit, crisp orchard fruit, and a clean, persistent freshness. A significant proportion of Pinot Noir gives the wine structure and depth, while Chardonnay brings precision and finesse. With its balance and complexity, Grande Réserve has the poise to drink beautifully now and will continue to evolve gracefully for a few years.
Production
Grande Réserve is built from 43% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir, and 15% Pinot Meunier, grown in Champagne’s chalky terroirs, where cool conditions help preserve acidity and aromatic clarity. Gosset does not use malolactic fermentation, a decision that keeps the wine notably fresh and tensioned, while the blend’s red-grape component contributes richness and structure. The cuvée is matured on the lees in bottle for up to three years in Gosset’s cellars before disgorgement, with a dosage of 8 g/L.
Food & Serving
This Champagne works wonderfully on its own, but it also pairs especially well with shellfish, oysters, and lightly spiced dishes where its freshness can shine. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is not recommended—simply open and enjoy to preserve the fine mousse and bright aromatics.
Producer
Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne, with a history dating back to 1584, and it remains one of the region’s most respected names. Known for its distinctive antique-style bottle and a house style focused on purity, freshness, and complexity, Gosset has earned a strong reputation among Champagne lovers seeking classic, high-quality cuvées.
