Description

Champagne Gosset Grande Réserve Brut is the house’s signature cuvée, showcasing a refined balance between Chardonnay’s bright fruit and Pinot Noir’s elegant structure. Produced by Champagne’s oldest wine house, founded in Aÿ in 1584, it combines classic character with a fresh, vibrant style and a remarkably creamy opening.

Tasting Notes
The wine pours a bright golden colour with a fine, persistent mousse. Its aromatic profile is dominated by fresh fruit, complemented by lifted, refreshing notes. On the palate, it begins with a soft, creamy texture before revealing lively acidity, precise structure and a subtle, classic Champagne character. Chardonnay contributes freshness and fruitiness, while Pinot Noir brings depth and shape. Thanks to its careful production without malolactic fermentation, Grande Réserve Brut retains its natural acidity and primary fruit expression. It is ready to enjoy now, although its freshness and structure should allow it to develop gracefully for several years when stored properly.

Production
Gosset selects grapes from leading Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards in the Marne, with an average classification of around 95% on the official échelle des crus scale. The blend is based on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, harvested from carefully selected sites. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve the wine’s natural malic acidity and fresh fruit aromas. After secondary fermentation, the Champagne rests for at least three years in the cellars before disgorgement, followed by a dosage of 8 grams per litre.

Food & Serving
An excellent aperitif, Grande Réserve Brut also pairs beautifully with tapas, seafood and shellfish, poultry dishes, and mature, savoury cheeses such as Comté or Parmesan. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not usually necessary for Champagne, although a brief pour into a suitable white-wine glass can help reveal its aromas and creamy texture.

Producer
Champagne Gosset traces its history to 1584, when Pierre Gosset, a councillor and winemaker in Aÿ, produced still red wines from his own vineyards. As sparkling wine gradually became the hallmark of the region during the 18th century, the house evolved with it while retaining its long-standing connection to Aÿ and the Marne. Today, Gosset is recognised as Champagne’s oldest wine house and remains known for elegant, traditionally styled cuvées that emphasise freshness, fruit purity and structure.
