Description
Champagne Gosset Grande Rosé Brut is a refined non-vintage rosé from Champagne’s oldest wine house, whose history dates back to 1584. Combining expressive red-fruit character with Gosset’s signature freshness and mineral precision, it is an elegant Champagne for both aperitif occasions and sophisticated dining.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a delicate rosé hue with a lively stream of fine bubbles. Its nose is led by fragrant strawberry aromas, complemented by subtle notes of citrus and other red berries. On the palate, refreshing acidity provides balance, while the fruit’s natural softness gives the wine a rounded, generous texture. The finish is smooth and persistent, marked by attractive mineral notes.
Gosset’s decision to avoid malolactic fermentation helps preserve the wine’s crispness and primary fruit character. It is enjoyable now, but its freshness, structure and extended cellar ageing make it suitable for further development over the next few years when stored in cool, dark conditions.
Production
Gosset selects grapes from some of the finest Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards in the Marne district, with the blend averaging 95% on the official échelle des crus classification. The grapes are harvested with the aim of preserving freshness and fruit purity. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to retain the wine’s natural malic acidity and vibrant aromas, while the Champagne is aged for at least four years in the cellars before disgorgement. The dosage is 8 grams per litre.
Food & Serving
An excellent aperitif, Grande Rosé Brut also pairs beautifully with salmon, foie gras, duck breast, Asian-inspired dishes and desserts or fresh preparations featuring red berries. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary; pour gently into tulip-shaped Champagne glasses to preserve the mousse while allowing the wine’s aromas to unfold.
Producer
Founded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, a local councillor and winegrower, Champagne Gosset is recognised as the oldest wine house in Champagne. The estate originally produced still red wines before the region’s winemaking gradually shifted towards sparkling Champagne during the 18th century. Today, Gosset remains particularly known for preserving freshness and fruit definition by avoiding malolactic fermentation, while its focus on highly rated Premier Cru and Grand Cru fruit reflects the historic importance of Aÿ and the wider Marne region.
