Description
Champagne Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs Brut is a refined, Chardonnay-led Champagne presented in an elegant gift box. Crafted from selected Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards in the Marne, it combines mineral freshness, fine bubbles and a distinctive saline finish with the historic character of Champagne’s oldest wine house. Non-vintage blending gives the cuvée a consistent house style while preserving its bright, precise expression.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a pale golden colour with delicate green highlights and a fine, persistent mousse. Its expressive nose is both mineral and floral, revealing aromas of green apple, citrus fruit and subtle fresh orchard notes.
On the palate, crisp citrus flavours develop alongside hints of pineapple, supported by lively acidity and a beautifully balanced texture. The finish is long and refreshing, with a delicate saline and lightly nutty character. Its freshness makes it enjoyable now, while careful cellaring for several additional years can allow greater toast, brioche and nutty complexity to emerge.
Production
Grand Blanc de Blancs is made from Chardonnay sourced from selected Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites in the Marne, with an average classification of around 95% on the official Échelle des Crus. Gosset deliberately avoids malolactic fermentation to preserve the wine’s natural acidity, primary fruit and tension. It rests for at least four years in the cellars before disgorgement and is finished with a moderate dosage of 7 grams per litre, maintaining a fresh and elegant profile.
Food & Serving
An excellent aperitif, this Champagne is equally well suited to oysters, shellfish, prawns and lobster. Its lively acidity also works beautifully with Parmesan risotto, gougères, light poultry or veal dishes, and young, fruit-forward cheeses. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not normally necessary; pour gently into Champagne flutes or tulip-shaped glasses to preserve both the mousse and the wine’s mineral aromas.
Producer
Founded in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, a councillor of Aÿ and winemaker, Gosset is recognised as the oldest wine house in Champagne. The estate originally produced still red wines from its own vineyards before the region’s winemaking tradition gradually shifted towards sparkling wines during the 18th century. Today, Gosset remains known for elegant, food-friendly Champagnes made with a strong emphasis on freshness and the preservation of natural fruit character.
