Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby to garnet color with excellent intensity. The nose opens with ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry, layered with violets, cedar, cocoa, and subtle earthy notes that reflect Pomerol’s signature complexity. On the palate, the wine is velvety and concentrated, with polished tannins, supple texture, and a long, balanced finish. The 2018 vintage has the depth and structure to age gracefully, with a drinking window that should continue to evolve over many years, gaining further nuance and silkiness.

Production
Certan de May is located on the Pomerol plateau, where gravel, clay, and iron-rich soils help create wines with both power and refinement. The vines are carefully tended and harvested with a focus on optimal ripeness, with fruit selected parcel by parcel to preserve the character of the terroir. Vinification is traditionally guided to maintain freshness, purity, and structure, followed by maturation in oak to add complexity and polish.

Food & Serving
This Pomerol is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes. It also works well with truffle-inflected cuisine and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
