Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby core with a youthful, vibrant rim. The nose is layered and refined, opening with ripe dark berries, plum, violets, and cedar, followed by subtler notes of tobacco, graphite, and warm spice. On the palate, the wine is supple yet structured, with velvety tannins framing generous black cherry, cassis, and earthy Pomerol complexity. The finish is long and composed, with freshness that should support further cellaring; while already expressive, it has the balance and concentration to age gracefully for many years.

Certan de May comes from the gravelly and clay-rich soils of Pomerol, where the vineyard’s mix of terroirs helps Merlot achieve both ripeness and finesse. The grapes are typically harvested by hand, with careful sorting to preserve fruit quality, and vinification is carried out with a focus on precision and gentle extraction to maintain purity and balance.

This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and truffle-based recipes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the bouquet and texture to fully open.
