Ceritas Trout Gulch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 is a compelling cool-climate Pinot Noir from the southern edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains, just 5.6 km from the Pacific Ocean. Its combination of ocean influence, mineral-rich sandy soils, and meticulous winemaking gives the wine striking freshness, precision, and regional character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a medium ruby color. The nose is layered and expressive, with wild raspberry, fresh pine, roses, and a subtle saline breeze that immediately speaks to its coastal origin. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with crisp, ripe tannins and a chalky, mineral texture. Subtle umami notes add depth to the finish, and the wine has the balance and complexity to develop beautifully over the next 10 to 15 years.

Production
Trout Gulch Vineyard was planted in 1980 and is known for its dense vineyard planting and deep-rooted vines drawing character from marine-influenced subsoils. The fruit is slowly ripened in this cool site, helping preserve natural acidity and freshness. Ceritas vinifies the wine with around 50% whole clusters and ages it for 16 months on the lees in roughly 25% new French oak, building texture and complexity while keeping the vineyard’s purity front and center.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir is a natural match for duck, game, lamb, and mushroom-based dishes. Serve it slightly cool, around 15-17°C, and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes if drinking young to let the aromatics open and the structure soften.
