Tasting Notes
In the glass, expect a deep ruby colour with youthful purple highlights. The nose typically opens with ripe red cherry, plum, and blackberry, lifted by subtle hints of spice, dried flowers, and a touch of cocoa or sweet tobacco. On the palate, Ripasso delivers a fuller, rounder profile than classic Valpolicella, with supple tannins, fresh acidity, and layers of dark fruit, vanilla spice, and a gentle savoury note. The finish is smooth and persistent, with enough structure to suggest good short- to medium-term aging potential.

Production
Made in the Valpolicella region of Veneto, this wine reflects the area’s distinctive hillside terroir, where well-exposed vineyards and varied soils help preserve freshness while developing ripeness and concentration. Ripasso is traditionally produced by refermenting Valpolicella wine on Amarone grape skins, a method that adds colour, body, and aromatic complexity before maturation in cellar.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted meats, braised beef, game, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider brief decanting if you want to soften the wine and bring out its layered fruit and spice characters.
