Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows deep, dark color and impressive concentration. The bouquet opens gradually, revealing layers of black cherry, blueberry tart, boysenberry, tar, milk chocolate, and licorice. On the palate, it is rich and powerful, with flavors of dark cherry, blueberry, raspberry liqueur, boysenberry, shaved milk chocolate, and a distinctive touch of tar, all carried by a long, seemingly endless finish. It is already stunning to drink now, yet its structure and depth suggest excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Production
Special Selection is made only in years when the fruit from Caymus’s best vineyard parcels reaches an exceptional level of ripeness and balance. Grown in California’s warm, sun-drenched terroir, the grapes are harvested from carefully selected plots and vinified under the guidance of Chuck Wagner, whose house style is known for precision, richness, and polish.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for premium cuts of beef, grilled ribeye, lamb, venison, or dishes with dark, savory sauces, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C and, while it is impressive already, a short decant of 30–60 minutes can help the aromas open beautifully.
