Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection 2013 Magnum is the flagship wine of Caymus Vineyards and one of California’s most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignons. Produced only in exceptional vintages from the estate’s finest parcels, it has earned a legendary reputation among collectors and wine lovers alike, including being named Wine Spectator’s “Wine of the Year” twice in its history.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Cabernet shows deep, youthful color with an inky, concentrated core. The nose opens with dark cherry, blueberry tart, boysenberry, tar, milk chocolate, and a touch of licorice, gradually revealing more complexity as it breathes. The palate is rich, intense, and layered, built around dark cherry, blueberry, raspberry liqueur, boysenberry, shaved milk chocolate, and savory tar notes. It finishes with remarkable length and persistence, and while it is already impressive now, its structure and concentration suggest excellent aging potential for many years to come.

Production
This Special Selection is made only in vintages where Caymus’ best vineyard blocks reach an exceptional level of ripeness and quality. The fruit is sourced from carefully selected sites in California’s Napa Valley, with meticulous vineyard work and a precision-driven winemaking approach guided by Chuck Wagner, whose style has helped define the Caymus house character.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with premium grilled ribeye, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, lamb, and rich mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the aromas and texture to fully open, especially in this youthful vintage and magnum format.
