Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 50th Anniversary 2022 Magnum is a landmark release from one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated Cabernet producers. Marking 50 years of Caymus Cabernet, this magnum captures the richness, depth, and polished style that have made the Wagner family’s wines so iconic since 1972.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep purple hue that borders on black, hinting at the wine’s concentration and intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with crème de cassis, violets, dark chocolate, lilac, anise, and cardamom unfolding over time. The palate is lush and full-bodied, driven by ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, mocha, leather, cigar box, vanilla, and a touch of sweet licorice. Despite its generosity, the wine remains smooth and rounded, with supple tannins and a warm, spicy finish that lingers beautifully. It can be enjoyed now, but it also has the structure and depth to evolve gracefully over the next 20 to 25 years.

Production
This special anniversary bottling is sourced from carefully selected Napa Valley fruit, including old vines, low-yielding sites, and vineyards farmed with minimal or no irrigation. The grapes are harvested at advanced ripeness to achieve the rich, plush Caymus style, then vinified with French oak used judiciously so it frames the fruit without overpowering it. The result is a deeply colored, intensely flavored Cabernet built on concentration, texture, and balance.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, to allow the aromatics and texture to fully раскрыться. It pairs well with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb, venison, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses.
