Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 50th Anniversary 2022 is a celebratory release from one of California’s most iconic Cabernet names, marking five decades of winemaking in Napa Valley. Crafted in the signature Caymus style, it combines deep concentration, plush texture, and polished French oak influence with the richly ripe fruit that has made the winery a benchmark since 1972.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Cabernet shows a deep purple hue, almost black at the core, hinting at its intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with crème de cassis, violets, dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, mocha, anise, cardamom, and subtle floral notes of lilac. The palate is lush and full-bodied, delivering generous dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla, sweet licorice, leather, cigar box, and a touch of sweet spice. The tannins are supple and rounded rather than firm or drying, giving the wine a smooth, velvety feel. It is built for both immediate pleasure and impressive aging potential, and should continue to develop beautifully over the next 20–25 years.

Production
This anniversary bottling comes from carefully selected Napa Valley sites, including older vines and low-yielding parcels, with minimal irrigation and a harvest timed for very high ripeness. Grapes are left hanging longer than usual to achieve Caymus’ trademark deep color and richly mature fruit profile, though this approach always carries some risk if the season turns early. French oak is used in measured proportion to support the wine without overshadowing the fruit.

Food & Serving
This Cabernet pairs naturally with grilled ribeye, roast beef, braised short ribs, lamb chops, and richly sauced dishes such as mushroom risotto or steak with peppercorn sauce. It is best served at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking now, especially to let the aromas and texture fully open.
