Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 50th Anniversary 2022 is a celebratory release from one of California’s most iconic Cabernet producers. Made to mark 50 years of Caymus Cabernet, it showcases the rich, plush house style that has made the Wagner family a Napa Valley benchmark since 1972.

Tasting Notes
Deep purple in the glass, nearly opaque, this Cabernet opens with intense aromas of crème de cassis, violets, dark chocolate, lilac, anis and warm spice. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with a dark-fruited core lifted by floral and subtle exotic notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, round and generous, with ripe black fruit, mocha, sweet tobacco, leather, vanilla, cigar box and sweet liquorice. The tannins are polished and supple rather than drying, and the finish is long, warm and spiced. Built in a style that emphasizes ripeness and richness, it has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed now or cellared for decades.

Production
This anniversary Cabernet is sourced from carefully selected Napa Valley sites, including old vines and low-yielding parcels, with minimal or no irrigation to encourage concentration. Fruit is harvested at high ripeness, reflecting the classic Caymus approach of extended hang time to develop deep color, generous texture and intense flavor. The wine is matured with French oak used judiciously so it enhances the fruit without overpowering it.

Food & Serving
Ideal with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, slow-roasted lamb, beef Wellington or aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, especially to let the aromas fully open and soften the wine’s rich structure.
