Description
Cavicchioli Lambrusco di Sorbara Vigna del Cristo Secco is a pure, expressive take on one of Emilia-Romagna’s most celebrated native grapes. First created in 1987 to mark Cavicchioli’s 60th anniversary, it comes from the five-hectare Vigna del Cristo vineyard in Sorbara, a site long associated with some of the most refined Lambrusco in the region.
Tasting Notes
Expect a bright, lively wine with a delicate ruby hue and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is typically fresh and floral, with red berries, violet, and a subtle earthy lift, while the palate is crisp, dry, and energetic, balancing juicy red fruit with vibrant acidity and a saline, mineral edge.
Its light, precise style is best enjoyed young, when the fruit and freshness are at their most expressive. While not built for long aging, it can hold its character well over the short to medium term if stored properly, remaining vivid and refreshing.
Production
This monovarietal Lambrusco di Sorbara is sourced entirely from Vigna del Cristo, a five-hectare vineyard in the Sorbara production zone of Emilia-Romagna. The vineyard’s location is key to the wine’s identity, helping preserve the grape’s signature finesse, freshness, and aromatic lift. Vinification is designed to protect purity of fruit and maintain the wine’s naturally sparkling character, resulting in a clean, dry style.
Food & Serving
A versatile food wine, it pairs beautifully with classic Emilia-Romagna dishes such as prosciutto di Parma, mortadella, salami, tortellini, and Parmigiano Reggiano. It also works well with fried foods, charcuterie, and pizza. Serve well chilled, ideally around 6–8°C, and no decanting is needed.
Producer
Cavicchioli is one of the historic names in Lambrusco, with deep roots in Emilia-Romagna and a longstanding reputation for championing the region’s native sparkling wines. The estate became especially notable for helping define a more refined, terroir-driven style of Lambrusco, and Vigna del Cristo remains one of its most important vineyard sources.
