Castello Verrazzano Sassello 1993 is a refined Tuscan red that brings together Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino in a classic expression of the region. Aged for 24 months in oak and a further 12 months in bottle, it offers the depth, structure, and elegance that have long defined traditional wines from Tuscany.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color that hints at its maturity and concentration. The nose is expressive, unfolding with ripe red and dark fruit, warm spices, and subtle notes of tobacco and oak. On the palate, Sassello 1993 is full-bodied and layered, with a harmonious balance between firm tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, and while it is already beautifully evolved, it still has the structure to age gracefully for several more years.

Production
This wine comes from Tuscany, where the region’s warm days and cooler nights help preserve freshness while allowing the grapes to ripen fully. Crafted from Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino, it is aged for two years in oak barrels and then matured in bottle for an additional year to bring the components into balance and refine the texture.

Food & Serving
An excellent match for red meats, game, and mature cheeses, this is a wine best served with hearty, flavorful dishes. Serve it at 18–20°C, and decanting is recommended if the bottle has been resting for a long time, to allow the aromas to open fully.
