Tasting Notes
In the glass, IRRosé 2022 shows a luminous, pale onion-skin to soft salmon pink hue, with brilliant clarity that immediately signals its precision. The nose is fragrant and inviting, offering notes of wild strawberries, redcurrants and pomegranate, intertwined with hints of blood orange zest, rose petals and a faint herbal-mineral lift typical of fine Sangiovese. On the palate, the wine is dry, focused and beautifully balanced, with ripe red berry fruit wrapped in a silky yet taut texture. Crisp acidity drives the flavours of raspberry, cherry and citrus, while a subtle savoury edge and a touch of salinity add complexity on the finish. The structure is more serious than many rosés, yet never heavy, making this both a gastronomic rosé and a highly drinkable one. Best enjoyed within 2–3 years of the vintage for maximum freshness and vibrancy, though its acidity and concentration will allow it to hold nicely over that time.

Production
IRRosé is crafted from 100% Sangiovese sourced from Casanova di Neri’s estate vineyards in the hills of Montalcino, where a mix of galestro (schistous marl), clay and limestone soils lend both elegance and tension to the fruit. The Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, helps preserve aromatic intensity and natural acidity. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, with careful selection in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only the healthiest clusters are used. The rosé is typically made via direct pressing or a brief, controlled maceration on the skins to obtain its delicate colour and refined tannin profile, followed by a cool fermentation in stainless steel to lock in fresh fruit character and aromatic purity. The wine is then rested on fine lees for a short period to enhance texture and complexity before bottling.

Casanova di Neri IRRosé 2022 is an adaptable food wine that pairs beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine: think grilled prawns, tuna tartare, seafood pasta, marinated octopus, or simple bruschetta with ripe tomatoes and basil. It also complements charcuterie, fresh cheeses, Niçoise salad and lighter poultry dishes with herbs. Serve well-chilled, ideally at 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and aromatics.
