Casanova di Neri’s Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri 2021 is a refined expression of one of Tuscany’s most celebrated appellations, combining bright red-fruit character with precision, structure and length. Named in honour of the winery’s founder, Giovanni Neri, it reflects the estate’s focus on high-altitude parcels and a clear sense of Montalcino terroir.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a vibrant ruby-red colour, with an inviting nose of red berries, ripe cherries and delicate floral tones. On the palate, it is fresh and precise, balancing lively acidity with polished, mature tannins. The finish is long, harmonious and finely layered, with the red-fruit and floral notes returning alongside subtle savoury nuances. With its structure, acidity and concentration, the 2021 vintage has excellent ageing potential. It can be enjoyed now with decanting, but should develop further complexity and depth over the next 10–15 years, provided it is stored in suitable conditions.

Production
Casanova di Neri is located in the eastern part of Montalcino and works with individually selected parcels at higher elevations. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully destemmed before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Maceration is managed to achieve a balanced extraction of colour, aromas and tannins. The wine then matures for an extended period in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by further bottle ageing, a method designed to preserve purity, structure and the expression of its individual sites.

Food & Serving
This Brunello is an excellent match for finely seasoned lamb, veal or beef, as well as game dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 18°C, allowing the bottle to come gradually to temperature. Decant for around 1–2 hours before serving, particularly when enjoying the wine in its youth; older bottles may benefit from careful decanting to separate the wine from any sediment.

Founded by Giovanni Neri in 1971, Casanova di Neri has become one of the leading names in Montalcino. Today, the estate is run by the third generation, with winemaker Giacomo Neri continuing the family’s emphasis on carefully selected vineyard parcels, precise cellar work and long maturation. The winery is particularly recognised for producing expressive Brunello wines that combine power, elegance and a strong sense of place.
