Casalforte Amarone della Valpolicella 2021 is a richly styled Veneto red made from the classic Amarone grapes Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Produced by Riondo, it brings together concentration, depth and the distinctive character that has made Amarone one of Italy’s most admired red wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Amarone typically shows a deep ruby to garnet colour with impressive intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, often opening with dried cherry, plum, fig, cocoa, sweet spice and hints of tobacco or balsamic complexity. On the palate, expect a full-bodied wine with generous texture, ripe dark fruit, warming spice and a savoury, velvety finish. Thanks to its concentration and structure, Casalforte Amarone has excellent ageing potential and should develop even more nuance over time.

Production
The grapes come from Veneto’s Valpolicella zone, where the combination of hillside vineyards, good sun exposure and cool air circulation helps preserve balance while building ripeness. As an Amarone, the wine is typically made from carefully selected grapes that are left to dry before fermentation, concentrating sugar, flavour and aromatic depth. This traditional appassimento method is followed by slow vinification and maturation to bring out the wine’s power and complexity.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with rich dishes such as braised beef, game, roast lamb, mature cheeses or risotto with mushrooms. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour before serving to allow the aromas and structure to fully open up.
