Casa La Rad Tinto 2021 is a bold and characterful Rioja blend that brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Grenache from mature vines. With hand-harvested fruit, careful selection and élevage in new French oak, it offers a polished, modern expression of the region while still reflecting Rioja’s long tradition of oak-aged red wines.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, this wine opens with an expressive bouquet of dark cherries and blackcurrants, layered with black pepper, coffee, nutmeg and vanilla. The palate is concentrated and generous, showing ripe dark berry fruit, well-integrated tannins and a fresh line of acidity that keeps the finish lively and balanced. The oak aging adds structure, spice and creamy depth without overpowering the fruit, making this a wine with both immediate appeal and room to develop over the next 5–8 years, depending on storage conditions.

Production
The grapes come from 35-year-old vines grown on Casa La Rad’s estate in Rioja, where the terroir and sustainable vineyard management are central to the estate’s identity. Fruit is harvested by hand and rigorously sorted to ensure only the best clusters are vinified, preserving quality from vineyard to cellar. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, followed by 14 months of aging in new French oak, which adds complexity, spice and refinement to the final blend.

Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for grilled or roasted red meats, game and slow-cooked stews, where its dark fruit, spice and firm structure can stand up beautifully to rich flavors. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young, to allow the aromas to open and the oak to integrate more fully.

Casa La Rad is an ambitious estate producer in Rioja, built around the La Rad vineyard, which is considered one of the estate’s finest sites and gave the winery its name. The property spans 110 hectares of vineyards, with the first vines planted in 1960, alongside around 15 hectares of olive trees used for oil production. Sustainability and biodiversity are key pillars of the estate’s philosophy, reflecting a long-term commitment to the land and to future generations.
