Cantina Fassati’s Rosso di Montepulciano Selciaia 2024 is a fresh, characterful Tuscan red from the historic hill town of Montepulciano. Its combination of ruby-red colour, juicy dark-fruit flavours and dry, approachable style makes it an excellent choice for everyday Italian dining. The wine is produced by the historic Fassati estate, acquired by Gianni Della Camera in 2015.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red in the glass, this Rosso opens with inviting aromas of blackberry and soft, ripe fruit. On the palate it is juicy and dry, with a smooth, fruit-led profile and a pleasant freshness that keeps the wine lively and easy to enjoy. Its balanced structure makes it best suited to drinking in its youth, when the vibrant fruit character is at its most expressive. It can be enjoyed without extended cellaring, although a short period in bottle should allow the flavours to become more integrated.

Production
The wine comes from the Montepulciano area in Tuscany, where the town stands on a limestone hill between the Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana. Cantina Fassati’s estate covers 101 hectares, including 89 hectares of vineyards and 4.5 hectares of olive groves. The grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures for 12–15 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for six months, adding subtle depth while preserving its fresh fruit character.

Food & Serving
A versatile companion to roasted white meat, pasta dishes and mildly spiced cheeses. Serve lightly cool at around 16–18°C to highlight its freshness and juicy fruit. Decanting is not essential for this approachable vintage, though a brief 15–20 minute airing can help open the blackberry aromas before serving.

Owned by Gianni Della Camera, Cantina Fassati is a historic estate based in Montepulciano, one of Tuscany’s most picturesque medieval towns. In 2015, Della Camera acquired one of the town’s historic wine cellars and developed Fassati into one of the larger estates in the area. Its extensive landholdings and focus on wines shaped by the Montepulciano landscape make the estate a notable name in the region.
