Cantina di Solopaca’s Beneventano Aglianico 2024 is a vibrant southern Italian red that combines the character of Aglianico with an approachable, velvety style. A grape with ancient roots in Italy, Aglianico is renowned for producing structured wines, while this expression offers generous red-fruit aromas and a smooth finish after gentle oak maturation.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright ruby-red colour. Its inviting nose reveals ripe red fruits, with notes of strawberry and raspberry complemented by subtle spice. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious and silky, with soft tannins and a balanced, fruit-driven profile. Thanks to six months of maturation in large oak casks followed by further bottle ageing, the wine has a rounded texture while retaining its fresh fruit character. It is enjoyable now and should develop gracefully over the short to medium term when stored in suitable conditions.

Production
The Aglianico grapes are hand-harvested and carefully transported to the winery, where they are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with approximately ten days of skin maceration and regular pump-overs to extract colour and flavour. The wine is then matured for at least six months in large oak casks before continuing its refinement in bottle.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for red meat and game, this Aglianico also works particularly well with richly seasoned dishes and mature, hard cheeses. Serve slightly cool, at around 16–18°C, to highlight its freshness and supple texture. Decanting is not essential for the young 2024 vintage, although a brief 20–30 minute airing can help open its aromas.
