Canalicchio di Sopra’s Brunello di Montalcino La Casaccia 2021 is a refined expression of Sangiovese from one of Montalcino’s historic estates. It combines the grape’s characteristic freshness and structure with concentrated black-fruit character, gentle tannins and impressive complexity. The estate was founded in 1962 by Primo Pacenti and remains family-run across three generations.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in appearance, the wine opens with inviting aromas of black cherries, tobacco and balsamic notes, accompanied by the layered, savoury nuances typical of mature Sangiovese. On the palate, it is beautifully concentrated and complex, with ripe fruit, balanced acidity and smooth, well-integrated tannins. The wine’s freshness and structure give it excellent cellaring potential. While approachable with decanting, the 2021 vintage should develop further depth and aromatic complexity over the coming years and can be enjoyed well into the next decade or beyond when properly stored.

Production
The vineyards are located in the northern part of the Montalcino appellation, across the Canalicchio di Sopra and Le Gode di Montosoli sites. Their differing locations and soils produce distinct Sangiovese profiles, which are carefully blended in the cellar. Canalicchio di Sopra combines modern winemaking technology with respect for traditional methods and the surrounding natural environment; specific harvesting and vinification details for the La Casaccia 2021 are not provided.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for Tuscan cuisine, this Brunello works beautifully with roast beef, lamb, game, mushroom-based dishes, aged cheeses and hearty pasta with ragù. Serve at approximately 18°C. Decant for around one to two hours before serving to open the wine’s aromas and soften its structure, particularly when enjoyed in its youth.
