Ca’Di Rajo Notti di Luna Piena Malanotte del Piave 2018 is a powerful and distinctive red from Veneto, made exclusively from the region’s traditional Raboso grape. A portion of the fruit is dried before fermentation, concentrating the wine’s flavours and structure, while extended ageing in oak adds depth and polish. It is a modern expression of a historic local style, rooted in the traditions of the Piave area.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red colour with garnet reflections. The nose is intense and layered, offering aromas of ripe black cherries, dark berries and plums, followed by floral nuances, spice and subtle oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with pronounced yet well-integrated acidity, firm tannins and a long, savoury finish. The dried grapes contribute richness and intensity, while the Raboso variety preserves freshness and structure. With its acidity, tannic backbone and 36 months of partial oak ageing, the 2018 vintage has excellent cellaring potential and should develop further complexity over the coming years.

Production
The wine is produced from 100% Raboso grapes grown in the Piave area, where the influence of the Venetian lagoon and the Dolomites contributes to the region’s distinctive conditions. The vines are planted using the traditional Bellussera system, an elevated geometric trellising method that improves airflow and sunlight exposure while helping to reduce the risk of fungal disease. More than 30% of the grapes are dried before fermentation to enhance concentration. Following vinification, part of the wine matures for up to 36 months in oak, creating a complex balance between fruit, freshness, tannin and spice.

Food & Serving
Its robust structure makes Notti di Luna Piena an excellent match for braised beef, game, slow-cooked stews and rich pasta dishes with meat-based sauces. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and grilled red meat. Serve at around 18–20°C, allowing the bottle to come up gradually in temperature. Decanting for approximately 1–2 hours is recommended, particularly when the wine is young, to soften the tannins and allow its aromas to unfold.

Ca’Di Rajo was founded in 1931 and is now managed by the third generation of the Cecchetto family: brothers Simone, Alessio and Fabio. The estate lies in a strategic part of Veneto, close to the meeting point of the Venetian lagoon and the Dolomites, and is closely connected to the historic Prosecco-producing area. The winery combines traditional regional varieties and vineyard practices with a modern approach to quality. Its commitment to local heritage is especially evident in the more than 20 hectares planted according to the historic Bellussera system, while its range also includes international varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Merlot.
