Built from carefully selected reserve wines and shaped by a long-standing cellar tradition, it offers a modern yet deeply rooted expression of Chilean winemaking history.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intensely dark color that hints at its depth and structure. The nose is compelling and savory, with aromas of dried tomatoes leading the way, followed by layered notes of bay leaf, thyme, and a distinct umami edge. On the palate, the wine is powerful and textured, with firm tannins and bright acidity keeping the richness lively and balanced. It is the kind of red that can develop well over time, with its structure suggesting good aging potential for those who prefer to cellar it.

Production
Caballo Loco is crafted in Chile using classic fermentation methods, including a long skin maceration and punchy, hands-on extraction with pumping over three times a day during fermentation. The wine is then aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, with 15% new oak, adding polish and subtle spice without overpowering the fruit and savory complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with flavorful red meats, especially grilled beef, boar, and lamb. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1 hour to allow the aromas and tannins to open up fully.

Caballo Loco is one of Chile’s most original and expressive wine projects, born from a unique cellar tradition in Lontué, in the Curicó Valley. In 1994, carefully preserved reserve wines from different vintages were brought together, creating the first release of this singular wine and establishing Caballo Loco as a benchmark for individuality in Chilean wine.
