Ca dei Frati’s Lugana Privilegio di Famiglia Brolettino is a beautifully structured white wine from the southern shores of Lake Garda, crafted from 100% Trebbiano di Lugana, also known locally as Turbiana. A signature expression of the region, it reflects both the winery’s long family tradition and the historic winemaking heritage of Lugana, where vines have been cultivated since 1782.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2020 Lugana shows a luminous, polished profile with the depth and concentration expected from a carefully aged white wine. The bouquet opens with ripe stone fruit, peach, and yellow apple, lifted by fresh balsamic nuances and a clean, refined aromatic edge. On the palate, it is enveloping from the first sip, with a decisive attack that quickly gives way to freshness, elegance, and structure. A taut acidity keeps the wine lively, while its savory character and layered fruit make the finish long and cleansing. Thanks to its balance and bottle age, it has excellent aging potential and can continue to develop added complexity over time.

Production
The Brolettino comes from vineyards on the Lake Garda side of Lugana, where the terroir has long been dedicated to viticulture and benefits from the moderating influence of the lake. Grapes are harvested only when fully ripe, around mid-October, ensuring concentration and aromatic maturity. Vinification is split between stainless steel and barriques, with 7-8 months of barrel aging followed by 5 years in bottle, giving the wine both freshness and depth.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that works especially well with rich fish dishes, roasted poultry, creamy risottos, mature cheeses, and refined vegetarian plates. Serve it at around 10-12°C to show its freshness and texture, and a short decant can be beneficial if the bottle is young, helping the aromatics open more fully.
