Description
Bussia Soprana Barolo Bussia 1993 is a beautifully matured Barolo from Piedmont, crafted from 100% Nebbiolo and shaped by the patience and tradition that define great Italian winemaking. Aged for at least 24 months in oak and then further refined in bottle, it offers the depth, structure, and elegance collectors look for in a classic vintage Barolo.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-garnet color with the first signs of graceful aging. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe red fruit, dried florals, spice, and a subtle touch of vanilla from oak maturation.
On the palate, this wine is full-bodied yet refined, with silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, harmonious finish. The 1993 vintage now has the benefit of bottle age, adding complexity and softness while still retaining the hallmarks of Nebbiolo: structure, finesse, and impressive longevity.
Production
Produced in the heart of Piemonte, this Barolo comes from the Bussia area, one of the most respected sites in the appellation. The vineyard’s hillside terroir and classic Piedmont conditions help Nebbiolo develop its signature aromatic intensity, firm structure, and ageworthy character. After harvest, the wine was vinified in the traditional style and matured for at least 24 months in oak barrels, followed by 12 months of bottle aging to integrate its flavors and polish its tannins.
Food & Serving
This Barolo is an excellent match for rich, savory dishes such as braised beef, game, roast lamb, and truffle-based recipes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for at least an hour, or longer if the bottle has been resting for a while, to allow the wine’s aromas and texture to fully open.
Producer
Bussia Soprana is associated with one of Barolo’s most historic and prestigious crus, Bussia, an area long recognized for producing powerful yet refined Nebbiolo. The producer is part of the tradition that helped establish Barolo as one of Italy’s great fine wines, with a reputation built on classic styling, careful aging, and wines made for long-term development.
