Burmester Quinta do Arnozelo Vintage Port 2022 is a rich, structured expression of the Douro Valley, made from grapes grown at the historic Quinta do Arnozelo estate. With the concentration and freshness expected from a young Vintage Port, it combines ripe dark-fruit character with the depth and ageing potential that have made Port one of Portugal’s great fortified wines.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-purple in appearance, this Vintage Port opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and plum, complemented by floral nuances, spice and a subtle hint of cocoa. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with layers of ripe black fruit, firm but well-integrated tannins and lively acidity that keep the wine balanced. A long, persistent finish brings further notes of dark chocolate and spice. It is enjoyable in its youth, but should develop greater complexity and softness with careful cellaring over many years.

Production
The Quinta do Arnozelo lies in Portugal’s Douro Valley, where steep slopes, hot summers and predominantly schist-based soils encourage small, intensely flavoured grapes. Vintage Port is traditionally made from hand-harvested grapes that are rapidly fermented before being fortified with grape spirit, preserving natural sweetness and fruit intensity. The wine is then matured in wood before bottling, allowing its powerful fruit, structure and freshness to develop.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, ideally at 16–18°C. This Port is a natural partner for mature blue cheeses, Stilton, rich chocolate desserts, dark-fruit tarts and roasted nuts; it can also be enjoyed on its own after dinner. Decanting is recommended, particularly after some time in bottle, to separate any sediment and allow the wine to open. Young bottles benefit from 30–60 minutes in the decanter, while older bottles should be handled more gently and decanted shortly before serving.
