Burmester Jockey Club Reserve is a non-vintage Tawny Port presented in an elegant gift tube, making it a thoughtful choice for both enthusiasts and special occasions. The Burmester name has been associated with Port since the company moved from London to Vila Nova de Gaia in 1750.

Tasting Notes
Deep amber with warm tawny highlights, this Reserve Tawny shows the mellow colour and developed character associated with extended oak ageing. The nose is inviting and layered, with aromas of dried fruit, gentle spice and a rounded, mature sweetness. On the palate, it is full and generous, balancing richness and sweetness with a smooth, complex texture. Subtle spicy nuances add definition to the finish without overpowering the fruit. Jockey Club Reserve is ready to enjoy on release; as a Tawny Port, it is not intended for long bottle ageing, although it can be kept for a short period after opening when stored sealed in a cool place, preferably refrigerated.

Production
Jockey Club Reserve is made by carefully selecting and blending Port wines that have each spent at least seven years maturing in oak casks. This extended cask ageing develops its soft texture, mellow character and notes of dried fruit and spice. Specific vineyard sites, grape varieties and harvesting methods are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 12–14°C. Its generous sweetness and gentle spice make it an excellent partner for nuts, dried fruit and soft cheeses, and it can also be enjoyed on its own as an after-dinner drink. Decanting is generally unnecessary, as this Tawny is filtered and ready to serve; simply pour carefully and reseal the bottle after serving.

Founded by Henry Burmester and John Nash, Burmester & Nash began as a grain-trading business in London in 1730 before moving to Vila Nova de Gaia in 1750 and entering the Port trade. The family’s commercial activities were highly regarded in London, where Burmester Road in Wimbledon is named after the family. Today, Burmester remains a historic Port house, and the Jockey Club Reserve reflects its long-standing expertise in blending and oak maturation.
