Description
Bruno Rocca’s Barbaresco Marcorino 2023 is a refined single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the heart of Piedmont. Elegant, fresh and deeply expressive, it combines the variety’s characteristic perfume and structure with polished tannins and a lingering, savoury finish. The Bruno family has tended these vines since the 1950s, with the estate bottling the essence of its Barbaresco terroir since 1978.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a luminous ruby-red colour with developing garnet hues. Its expressive nose opens with black cherry, orange peel and dried rose, followed by nuanced notes of cedar, liquorice and spice.
On the palate, Barbaresco Marcorino is fresh and elegant, with a finely balanced structure and beautifully integrated, velvety tannins. A savoury, saline character carries through to the long finish. With its concentration and firm Nebbiolo backbone, the 2023 vintage should develop additional aromatic complexity over many years when carefully cellared.
Production
The grapes come from the Marcorino vineyard in Piedmont, a site chosen to express the natural potential and finesse of the Barbaresco area. The vines are cultivated with a strong focus on preserving local identity and producing fruit with both aromatic precision and long-term structure. Careful vinification is followed by extended maturation designed to develop complexity, refine the tannins and reveal the wine’s distinctive organoleptic profile.
Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 18°C, ideally after decanting for around one hour to allow the wine’s floral, fruit and savoury nuances to unfold. Its elegant structure and saline finish make it an excellent partner for roast partridge with truffle, game dishes, braised meats and mature, intensely flavoured cheeses.
