Description

Brice Champagne Grand Cru Extra Brut Bouzy Vintage Magnum 2012 is a beautifully crafted, terroir-driven Champagne from one of the most prized villages in the Montagne de Reims. Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown exclusively in Grand Cru vineyards, this magnum bottling offers added complexity, refinement and aging capacity. The Extra Brut dosage keeps the wine focused, precise and mineral, showcasing the character of Bouzy rather than sweetness.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2012 Grand Cru shows a luminous, deep straw hue with golden reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose opens with layers of ripe orchard fruit—baked apple, pear and quince—alongside notes of lemon zest, chalk, toasted brioche and roasted hazelnut, with subtle hints of white flowers and a faint smokiness that speaks to Bouzy’s Pinot Noir dominance. On the palate, the wine is dry, tense and impeccably balanced, with the power of Pinot Noir wrapped in the elegance of Chardonnay. Expect flavors of yellow plum, Mirabelle, citrus peel, crunchy red apple skin and hints of dried apricot, supported by a pronounced chalky minerality and a firm, linear acidity. The Extra Brut style underlines its precision and length, leading to a long, saline, almost mouthwatering finish with touches of toasted almond and pastry. From a strong vintage like 2012 and bottled in magnum, this Champagne has excellent aging potential; it is already drinking beautifully but will continue to evolve, gaining even more complexity and depth over the next 8–12 years.

Production
Sourced from Brice’s holdings in the Grand Cru village of Bouzy, this Champagne reflects the sun-exposed slopes and chalk-rich soils that make the area famous for structured, expressive Pinot Noir complemented by refined Chardonnay. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure optimal selection in the vineyard, with careful sorting to retain only the healthiest, fully ripe bunches. Vinification typically combines stainless steel for freshness and clarity of fruit with some oak influence (depending on the cuvée) to add texture and complexity, followed by an extended period of aging on the lees in bottle to build creaminess and aromatic depth. The Extra Brut dosage is kept very low, allowing the pure expression of the 2012 vintage and the Bouzy Grand Cru terroir to shine.

Food & Serving
This 2012 Grand Cru Extra Brut is a superb match for refined yet flavorful dishes. Try it with seafood such as oysters, scallops, lobster, or turbot in a beurre blanc, as well as sushi and sashimi where its precision cuts through richness. It also pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, veal in light cream sauces, aged Comté, Parmesan or mature goat’s cheese, and delicately truffled dishes. Serve well chilled but not icy, ideally around 8–10°C (46–50°F). Decanting is usually not necessary, but for a mature vintage in magnum, pouring it into a wide-bottomed carafe 15–20 minutes before serving can help the bouquet open fully.
