Branaire-Ducru 2018 is a polished Saint-Julien that combines classical Bordeaux structure with the generosity of a warm vintage. As a Fourth Growth from the 1855 Classification, it offers the pedigree, precision, and balance that make this estate one of the Left Bank’s most reliable names.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-purple color with impressive clarity and brightness. The nose is expressive and refined, opening with blackcurrant, ripe plum, cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite, and a hint of violets and spice. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a smooth, layered texture. Cabernet Sauvignon drives the core with dark berry fruit and mineral depth, while Merlot adds roundness and Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot contribute aromatic lift and spice. It should age very well, developing greater complexity over the next 10–20 years.

Production
Branaire-Ducru comes from the gravelly soils of Saint-Julien, where excellent drainage helps Cabernet Sauvignon achieve ripeness and concentration while preserving freshness. The 2018 vintage benefited from careful vineyard management and selective harvesting, with grapes picked at optimal maturity and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve precision and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, especially to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
