Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a warm golden amber hue. The nose brings together soft peat smoke, sea spray, lemon zest, and hints of honey and cocoa, with a lightly herbal edge that adds complexity. On the palate, Bowmore 12 is smooth and balanced, with notes of smoky malt, dried fruit, vanilla, dark chocolate, and a touch of brine. The finish is long and warming, with lingering peat and a gentle sweetness. It drinks beautifully now, with no need for further aging, though its layered character continues to hold appeal for whisky lovers who enjoy a classic Islay profile.

Production
Produced at Bowmore’s waterfront distillery on Islay, this whisky reflects the island’s maritime climate and peat-rich environment. The malted barley is lightly peated, helping create Bowmore’s signature style of restrained smoke and coastal freshness. After fermentation and distillation, the spirit is matured for 12 years in a mix of oak casks, allowing the whisky to develop depth, balance, and smoothness.

Food & Serving
Serve Bowmore 12 slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16–18°C, to let the aromas open fully. It pairs well with smoked salmon, grilled seafood, mature cheddar, or dark chocolate desserts, and it can also be enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to soften the smoke and reveal more of its citrus and vanilla notes. Decanting is not necessary.
