Description

Henri Bonneau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Marie Beurrier is a rare and highly sought-after expression from one of the Rhône Valley’s most revered producers. The 1995 vintage comes from a legendary estate known for its deeply traditional, low-intervention style and wines of remarkable character and longevity.

Tasting Notes
With age, this wine typically shows a deep garnet color that can take on brick-red reflections at the rim. The bouquet is often layered and complex, with notes of dried dark cherry, plum, leather, garrigue, tobacco, sweet spice, and earthy, savory nuances. On the palate, it is usually full-bodied and beautifully textured, combining mature red and black fruit with wild herb notes, mineral depth, and a long, resonant finish. Thanks to its concentration and traditional élevage, it can evolve gracefully for many years, developing even greater nuance and finesse in bottle.

Production
Sourced from Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards in the southern Rhône, this cuvée reflects the region’s sun-drenched climate, galet-strewn soils, and traditional old-vine viticulture. Henri Bonneau was known for working in a highly artisanal manner, favoring very late harvesting and minimal intervention to preserve depth, intensity, and expression of terroir. Vinification and aging followed the estate’s famously patient, traditional approach, producing wines with exceptional individuality.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with slow-cooked lamb, duck confit, game dishes, beef stew, or roasted mushrooms with herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting younger or recently opened bottles gently to help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic complexity.

Producer
Henri Bonneau was one of the most iconic and respected names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, celebrated for crafting wines of extraordinary authenticity and age-worthiness. The estate’s small-scale, traditional philosophy and limited production helped build an almost cult-like following among collectors. Over time, Bonneau’s wines became benchmarks for classical southern Rhône expression and remain highly prized worldwide.
