Tasting Notes
The Champagne presents a bright golden colour with a fine, persistent mousse. Its expressive nose reveals white flowers, citrus, ripe pear, toasted nuts, vanilla and freshly baked brioche. On the palate, generous layers of candied fruit, mirabelle plum, quince, honey and subtle bitter orange are supported by impressive structure and freshness. The 2009 vintage brings concentration and ripe fruit, while the long, precise finish adds elegance and depth. Already beautifully developed, this Champagne can be enjoyed now or allowed to mature further under suitable cellar conditions. With its combination of richness, structure and acidity, it has the potential to evolve gracefully over the coming years.

Production
Produced from a classic blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from selected Grand Cru vineyards in Champagne, La Grande Année reflects Bollinger’s traditional approach to vintage Champagne. The base wines are fermented in small, previously used oak barrels, contributing texture, depth and subtle notes of toast and vanilla. The warm, ripe 2009 growing season resulted in concentrated grapes, balancing generous fruit with the structure required for extended ageing.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 10–12°C in a tulip-shaped Champagne glass to allow its layered aromas to develop. It pairs beautifully with roast poultry, veal, lobster, scallops, grilled fish and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles. Its richness also makes it a refined match for mature hard cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but a brief opening before serving—or careful decanting into a suitable Champagne decanter—can help reveal the wine’s full complexity.
