Description
Bollinger PN TX20 is a powerful, deeply structured Blanc de Noirs Champagne that places Pinot Noir firmly at the centre of the experience. Built around the 2020 vintage from Tauxières and matured with an extensive reserve-wine component, it combines Bollinger’s trademark vinous character with the freshness and precision of a grower-focused cuvée. Presented in magnum, this limited-production style is particularly well suited to extended bottle ageing and special occasions.
Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a bright golden appearance with a fine, persistent mousse. Its aromatic profile is richly Pinot-driven, with ripe orchard fruit, red berries, toasted bread and subtle brioche, complemented by mineral and gently spicy notes.
On the palate, PN TX20 is full-bodied and concentrated, with impressive density and a firm, energetic structure. The 2020 base wine brings power and depth, while the reserve wines add complexity and breadth. A dry, balanced finish carries notes of red apple, citrus, pastry and mineral freshness. Although approachable, this is a Champagne that will benefit from at least another year or two in bottle and should develop further over the medium term.
Production
The cuvée is built around 2020 Pinot Noir from Tauxières, a village in Champagne’s Montagne de Reims where Pinot Noir thrives. The growing season was relatively short, with only 87 days from flowering to harvest; picking began on 25 August. The base wine is complemented by 50% reserve wines, half of which come from Bollinger’s extensive library of reserve wines aged in magnums. The wine was disgorged in January 2025 and finished with a dosage of 8 grams per litre.
Food & Serving
Its generous texture and firm structure make it an excellent partner for roast poultry, veal, pork tenderloin and richly prepared fish such as turbot or monkfish. It also works beautifully with shellfish, mature cheeses and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffle. Serve well chilled, ideally at 10–12°C, allowing it a little time in the glass to open. Decanting is not essential, but careful decanting into a narrow carafe can be considered for a mature bottle or when giving the wine more immediate aeration.
Producer
Founded in 1829, Bollinger is one of Champagne’s most respected houses and is particularly renowned for its Pinot Noir-led wines, traditionally sourced from the villages around Aÿ and the Montagne de Reims. The house has built its reputation on powerful, age-worthy Champagnes, extensive reserve-wine holdings and the use of magnum-aged reserve wines to preserve freshness and complexity. PN TX20 forms part of Bollinger’s newer series of site-focused Pinot Noir Champagnes, showcasing the distinctive character and energy of individual villages.
