Bodegas Anadas, CariñenaCare Crianza Nativa Tempranillo-Merlot 2022

CariñenaCare Crianza Nativa is a rich, polished red from Bodegas Anadas in the heart of Spain’s DO Cariñena. A blend of Tempranillo and Merlot, it combines ripe fruit with subtle oak spice and offers an expressive, full-bodied style shaped by the region’s warm, continental climate. The CARE name comes from the ancient Roman name for Cariñena, reflecting the winery’s close connection to its historic home.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour with youthful intensity. Its clean, concentrated nose opens with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, followed by notes of spice, vanilla and a subtle mineral character. On the palate, it is generous and powerful, with a rounded texture and well-integrated fruit. Flavours of ripe berries are complemented by gentle vanilla and oak nuances, leading to a long, fruit-driven finish. Enjoy it now for its generous character, or keep it for a further two to four years for added integration and softness.

Production
Made from Tempranillo and Merlot grown in the Cariñena region, the wine reflects the area’s sunny, dry continental climate and pronounced day-to-night temperature variation. The grapes undergo six days of cold maceration before alcoholic fermentation at a controlled 26°C, followed by a further 15 days of contact with the skins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine matures for eight months in American oak barrels. Specific harvesting methods are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool at around 16–18°C. Its ripe fruit, generous structure and vanilla-infused oak make it a natural match for grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, hearty stews, burgers, mature cheeses and savoury mushroom dishes. Decanting is not essential, but 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help open the wine and soften its youthful, powerful character.

Founded in 1935, Bodegas Anadas is one of the oldest family-owned wineries in DO Cariñena. Located in the heart of the appellation, the estate is best known for its CARE range, a broad collection centred on Garnacha alongside selected white and rosé wines. The CARE project brings together carefully selected vineyards, precise winemaking and distinctive labels featuring faces created by artist Enrique Torrijos—images intended to evoke the sun and soils of Cariñena. The name also captures the care and respect the winery applies throughout the production of its wines.
