Blason de l’Évangile Pomerol 2021 is a refined second wine from one of Pomerol’s most respected estates, offering a taste of the appellation’s signature plush Merlot character at a more approachable level. Crafted in the heart of Bordeaux’s Right Bank, it reflects the elegance, depth and supple texture that have made Pomerol wines so admired.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby core with youthful purple highlights. The nose opens with ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry, layered with subtle floral notes, cedar, cocoa and a touch of spice from the Cabernet Franc. On the palate, it is smooth and medium-to-full bodied, with ripe fruit, fine tannins and a balanced line of freshness that keeps the wine energetic and precise. The finish is polished and persistent, with enough structure to suggest good development over the next several years.

Production
Sourced from Pomerol vineyards on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, the wine benefits from the region’s clay and gravel soils, which are especially well suited to Merlot and help build richness, fragrance and texture. The grapes are typically harvested by hand, with careful selection to preserve fruit quality, and vinified using traditional Bordeaux methods designed to emphasize purity and balance.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile red for classic dishes such as roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, mushroom risotto or lentil-based dishes with earthy flavors. Serve at around 16–18°C; decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if the wine is young to help it open up fully.
