Description
Bernard Tornay Millésime Brut Champagne Grand Cru ‘Bouzy’ 2009 is a refined vintage Champagne that captures the depth and precision of one of Champagne’s most admired Grand Cru villages. Made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Bouzy’s top slopes, it combines elegance, structure, and remarkable complexity, with the added prestige of a long lees ageing period that brings finesse and character.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shines with a golden-yellow hue and subtle green reflections, hinting at both maturity and freshness. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of hawthorn blossom, toasted almonds, honey, candied orange peel, moka, and a delicate touch of mirabelle liqueur, lifted by citrus, green apple, and forest berry notes.
On the palate, it opens round and delicate with a lightly sweet impression balanced by vibrant acidity. Brioche, candied white fruit, and pronounced toasted nuances lead into a long, harmonious finish marked by chalky minerality. This is a Champagne with excellent ageing potential, and the 2009 vintage is already showing beautiful complexity while still having room to develop further in bottle.
Production
This Millésime Brut is crafted from carefully selected grapes grown on the Grand Cru slopes of Bouzy in the Champagne region, where the terroir is known for giving both power and finesse. The wine is made using the traditional method, with extended ageing on the lees to build texture, aromatic depth, and a refined mousse, while low yields help preserve concentration and strong site expression.
Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as scallops, roast poultry, lobster, sushi, or aged hard cheeses, as well as lighter dishes featuring cream or butter. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its freshness and complexity; decanting is not necessary, though a short rest in the glass can help the aromas open up.
