Crafted exclusively from Verdicchio Bianco and aged in both steel and toasted oak, it offers a deeply layered expression of this classic Italian grape.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Cambrugiano 2022 shows a luminous straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, gaining golden highlights as it opens in the glass. The nose is intense and complex: white flowers, chamomile and acacia blend with ripe citrus, stone fruit and hints of Mediterranean herbs, all wrapped in subtle tones of vanilla and sweet spice from oak maturation. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet vibrant, with a notable texture that feels both creamy and taut. Flavors of lemon zest, ripe peach and green apple intertwine with almond, fennel and a gentle saline edge that speaks of its hillside origins. The oak is beautifully integrated, adding notes of vanilla and light toast without weighing the wine down. The finish is long, savory and impeccably balanced, with a pleasant, mouthwatering bitterness typical of Verdicchio. Thanks to its structure and acidity, the 2022 has excellent aging potential; it can be enjoyed now for its energy and precision, or cellared for 5–8 years to gain even more depth, honeyed nuances and complexity.

Production
The grapes for Cambrugiano are sourced from selected vineyard parcels in the Matelica area of Marche, where hillside vineyards benefit from a continental-influenced climate, cool nights and significant day–night temperature swings. These conditions, combined with predominantly calcareous, clay-limestone soils, give Verdicchio both aromatic lift and a firm mineral backbone. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness—typically by hand—to preserve fruit integrity. After harvest, the wine is produced exclusively from Verdicchio Bianco, vinified using low-temperature maceration to extract delicate aromatics while protecting freshness. Fermentation and maturation take place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and toasted oak barrels, where the wine spends at least one year gaining texture, complexity and subtle spice. It is then bottled and rests for a further year before release, allowing the components to harmonize and the distinctive character of Cambrugiano to fully emerge.

Belisario Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva Cambrugiano 2022 is an exceptionally versatile food wine, ideal for refined seafood dishes such as grilled turbot, seared scallops, lobster, or shellfish risotto. It pairs beautifully with poultry in creamy or herb-driven sauces, veal scaloppine, rabbit, and richer vegetarian dishes like truffle pasta, risotto with porcini mushrooms, or aged cheeses such as Pecorino and Parmigiano Reggiano. Serve at 10–12°C to highlight its aromatic complexity and precise acidity; as it warms slightly in the glass, more layered notes of spice and nuts will appear. A short decant of 20–30 minutes, or simply opening the bottle in advance, can help the wine unfold its full bouquet and textural richness, especially if served with more elaborate cuisine.
