Description

Domaine Lapierre’s Beaujolais 2023 is a pure, characterful expression of Gamay from one of the region’s most respected family estates. Known for its freshness, charm, and effortless drinkability, it captures the best of Beaujolais in a vibrant, modern style rooted in tradition.

Tasting Notes
Expect a bright ruby color with a youthful, transparent hue. On the nose, it typically offers lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry, violets, and a subtle earthy or spicy note. The palate is juicy and energetic, with supple tannins, lively acidity, and a smooth, fruit-driven finish. This is a wine made for early enjoyment, though its balance and purity can also reward a short period of cellaring.

Production
Sourced from the Beaujolais region in Burgundy, the wine reflects the granitic and mineral-driven soils that suit Gamay especially well. Domaine Lapierre is widely known for respectful vineyard work and a hands-off approach in the cellar, often emphasizing natural fermentations and minimal intervention to preserve freshness and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This Beaujolais is highly versatile and works well with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled sausages, mushroom dishes, and mild cheeses. Serve it slightly chilled at around 14–16°C. Decanting is not usually necessary, though a brief aeration can help open the wine if served young.

Producer
Domaine Lapierre is one of Beaujolais’ benchmark producers and a leading name in the movement toward authentic, terroir-driven wines in the region. The estate has earned a strong reputation for quality and consistency, with a style that combines purity, elegance, and deep respect for the Gamay grape.

Marcel Lapierre is one of the legends of Beaujolais and also one of the most important figures in the natural wine movement. His children Mathieu and Camille run the estate today, of course in the same spirit. Beaujolais is made from the Gamay grape, which produces fruity and delightful wines that you gladly have more than one glass of.
