Barone Ricasoli’s Brolio Castello di Brolio 2019 is a refined expression of Chianti Classico from one of Tuscany’s most historic estates. Crafted from Sangiovese grown on limestone-rich soils, it combines elegance, intensity, and a distinctly mineral character that reflects the slopes around Castello di Brolio.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the poised depth typical of great Sangiovese, with a vibrant ruby core and a polished, luminous appearance. The nose opens with delicate red and dark berry fruit, then moves into crushed oyster shell, dark spice, and subtle smoky, ember-like notes. The palate is firm, high-toned, and long, with precise acidity, structured tannins, and a mineral spine that gives the wine real drive. While already expressive, it has the concentration and balance to age gracefully for several years, developing greater savouriness and complexity over time.

Production
This wine comes from Sangiovese vineyards rooted in clay-limestone soils with high calcium carbonate content and low organic matter, conditions that naturally limit vigour and encourage concentration. The terroir contributes both fragrance and a marked mineral edge, while careful harvesting and classic vinification help preserve the grape’s purity and structural precision.

Food & Serving
Ideal with bistecca alla fiorentina, grilled lamb, game birds, mushroom risotto, or aged Pecorino Toscano. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if enjoyed young to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
