Production
The Sangiovese grapes for La Ripa are sourced exclusively from the uppermost sections of the “Vigna delle Querce” and “Il Poggio” vineyards, where elevation, optimal sun exposure and a distinctive microclimate deliver naturally low yields and excellent concentration. Typical of Montepulciano, the soils are a mix of clay, limestone and ancient marine sediments, contributing both structure and an elegant, savory minerality to the wine. Grapes are carefully hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, ensuring only the healthiest bunches reach the cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve aromatic purity, followed by an extended maceration to extract fine tannins and color. The wine is then matured in wood (often traditional large barrels or a mix of sizes) to round the structure and add subtle spice, without overshadowing the character of Sangiovese and its clearly Tuscan identity.
