Barão de Vilar, Vilarissa Valley Tinto 2022

Barão de Vilar Vilarissa Valley Tinto 2022 is a refined and full-bodied Douro red that combines ripe fruit character with subtle oak complexity. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and matured partly in old French oak barrels for 12 months, it offers an appealing balance of freshness, softness and depth.

Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a deep ruby-red appearance, with aromas of ripe red and black fruits complemented by discreet spicy notes from its maturation. On the palate, it is rounded and generously flavoured, with a smooth texture and a soft, persistent finish. Its approachable style makes it enjoyable now, while careful short-term cellaring may allow the fruit and oak nuances to integrate further.

Production
Made in Portugal’s Douro region from a careful selection of grapes, the wine was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to preserve its fresh aromatic profile. It was then partially matured in old French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling, adding gentle spice and refinement without overshadowing the ripe fruit character.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool, at approximately 16–18°C. This versatile Douro red pairs well with grilled or roasted meats, slow-cooked beef, pork, sausages and hearty mushroom dishes. Decanting is not essential, but 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help open the wine’s fruit and spice aromas before serving.
